So since returning to life as a student (minus the loan) I have had to make some soul destroying sacrifices.
First of all my hair, anyone who knows me knows how much I love my blonde hair. I once made a spontaneous(/crazy) decision to dye it light brown. worst 72 hours of my life. Don't get me wrong I love brunette hair colours however they just dont suit me. It's not been NINE MONTHS since I've dyed my hair, I cant quite believe it myself. Quite shocked my hair still hasnt mangaged a growth spurt yet though I expected to be rapunzel by at least the end of the 5th month, however 9 months going strong I know I have probably saved my hair a lot of damage but some days I do just wanna run into a hairdressers and have my roots done - I'm kind of pulling off the ombre look unintentionally, hope this trend doesnt fade anytime soon!
Another sacrifice I've had to make is with make-up, now I've already had to deal with roots for 9 months so my mum couldnt expect me to give up EVERYTHING. However I now have to manage with the 'basics', luckily natural collection is affordable and wearable.
I've always used the natural collection Lashlength mascara, even when I wasn't poor. It literally is the best thing from the collection and because its only £1.99 having to buy a new one even monthly would not break the bank. The whole range is under £1.99 and last weekend my dad gave me £20 for 'food' I invested it in boots, I had double points vouchers and £4.00 worth of points if I spend over a certain amount so really this was saving money.
The lipsticks are also SO good, I got 'Sorbet' this time, quite a natural colour but my ultimate fave is 'Pink Mallow' slightly makes me look like Barbie but I love it!
First time trying the powder and tinted moisteriser. I dunno if you can call something as thick as this moisteriser? It was 100% foundation but for under £2.00 I am not complaining when I dont wanna waste the good stuff if I'm going nowhere special!
The concealer is no Mac but it does the job well enough for now.
There are some things I've been sparingly using that I just can't live without:
Mac strobe cream is literally incredible, I've had this since August so I'm pretty chuffed with myself as I use it pretty much everyday. You can either put it on after you moisterise before your foundation or I mix mine with my foundation which makes your make-up stay on your face SO much longer, also makes your foundation go further hence why I still also have this Mac foundation from August! I purchased both of these in the airport on my way to Egypt, I swear the shop assistant had it in for me, I told her I go quite dark in the sun but there must of been bad lighting or she was just colour blind as she gave me completley the wrong coloured everything. Fortunatley I can get away with this if I'm wearing fake tan and mix it well with the strobe cream but I usually save it for nights out (which are rare) as I usually smother myself in fake tan (FYI Primark fake tan is the best I've ever tried).
Another one of my holiday purchases which was so worth the money was a set of four highlighters I purchased on the plane, I've been meaning to get the benefit high beam again as I loved it, however I paid around £16 for four of these little beauties. They arent as big as the benefit ones but theyve lasted me so long and literally are the same thing! The two in the picture I use on my cheeks and the other two (misplaced) bottles are for the lips!
I literally cannot wait to finish my course and be in full time employment and not feel guilty about buying chicken breasts and coffees!
